Cooperative Research

Electronic Vessel Trip Reporting (EVTR) is a pilot project funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), in collaboration with the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). The Cape Cod Commercial Hook Fishermen's Association has played a key part of testing Vessel Trip Reports in the real world at sea, using software derived from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Logbook system. There are several approaches to implementing EVTR:
One area of exploration is whether EVTR needs to be real-time from vessels at sea, or if it is adequate to have computer assistance in compiling the data, and then doing paperless reporting on return to port.
